LAST GIRL ON EARTH IS HERE!
Deni’s first, new, full-length album since the 2002 release of the critically-acclaimed, Bigger Is Always Better, features a collection of new originals , an unexpected re-working of a classic 80’s song and a couple of alternate versions of two of the songs on the album.
Recorded and mixed in Woodstock, NY and New York, NY, two great rock’n’roll towns, the album is graced by guest appearance from Sara Lee (B52’s, Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls), Kevin Salem (Emmylou Harris, Freedy Johnston), John Wesley Harding, Sean Altman (Rockapella), the girls from BETTY!, Alicia Keys’ horn section, and of course, a wonderful cameo by Robyn Hitchcock.
The title track was written with Richard Barone, leader of The Bongos, the quintessential MTV band. Richard also provides background vocals on a couple of tracks. Various members of Deni’s live band and Cyndi Lauper’s band provide the majority of the musical backing and, fear not, there is plenty of Deni’s trademark violin mayhem and tongue-in-cheek lyrics & delivery.
The album was produced by Paul Bevan, mixed by Juan Patino (Lisa Loeb, Jewel, Chris Stills) and the stunning packaging (in an environmentally-friendly digipak) features a whole new set of photos by the ultimate rock photographer, Mark Weiss (Bon Jovi, Beyonce, Aerosmith, you name’em!).
Due to the graphic nature of the title and lyrics of one of the songs (all in the best possible taste, of course) , there will an alternate ‘family friendly’ version of the CD for all puritans, tender souls and those of you who like to listen along with their grandma’s. Unless your grandma is a sailor …

Fiddling on Upcoming Movie Score
Deni’s fiddle can be heard on the opening and closing tracks for a new film from the Weinstein Company entitled WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OSAMA BIN LADEN. The feature film score was written by the wonderful Jon Spurney, (who is appearing on Broadway right now in PASSING STRANGE.) It's the new documentary from Morgan Spurlock, the director of Super Size Me, and details his efforts to learn more about the elusive Al-Qaeda leader in particular and the Middle East in general. The movie premiered last month at the Sundance Film Festival, and the film should be opening nationally in April. More info is available HERE.
