Remember When

I remember a time, not long ago, when I would stay up blogging until 3 in the morning. I was hooked on the lives of all my new, virtual friends. I can’t say when I got out of the blogging habit. Maybe it was after the loss of my Mom, or when my new CD was finally finished. Either way, I’ve been realizing that the longer I go without writing a new entry, the harder it is to share.

I recall a time when I would see something funny on the streets of NY and I couldn’t wait to show you all my discoveries. Now, I observe, giggle to myself and walk on.

I would wake up in the middle of the night with an idea for a new, fun and silly contest and I couldn’t wait to post my ideas to see what my blogging buddies thought about it.

Lately, my good friend, LisaB, has been bugging me to get back to blogging. And I’ve even gotten emails from various bloggers like Mr. Lugubrious that ribbed me about, “Remember when we used to blog?”

I’d like to get back into the swing of blogging again. Really I would. I miss you. So with that in mind, I’m going to list all the stuff I can recall that’s been going on in my life since I last blogged. Here goes…

~ I recorded a Christmas song which has been picked up by American Airlines to be played in-flight (domestic and international) during December. (Also on the bill: Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams and Sarah Brightman… to name a few!) This also means my name gets in the in-flight magazinr, so if any of you are planning a trip on AA in December, please grab me a copy!

~ Played a bunch of great gigs with my new band.

As Time Flies By

I can hardly believe it. It’s already August and as far as I can tell, the end of summer is right around the corner. I realize that sounds kind of fatalistic, but I really don’t mean it to be!

I’ve been keeping myself tremendously busy over the past couple of months by putting together a real, honest to goodness BAND! These are guys that are into rehearsing whether we have a show or not. Like the early days of playing music for the love of it.

Some of you might say, “Deni, what the hell have you been doing the past few years? What’s the big deal? You’ve been playing shows all the time with amazing players!”

Well, the BIG difference is that THESE guys are PART of the act now! I’ll tell you more about them soon, but for now, take my word for it. I’m enjoying the music more than I have in a LONG time!

We’re even bantering around band names. If any of you have any suggestions, please pass them on! “Deni Bonet and the (…)”. If we use your suggestion, you’ll get free admission for life to every one of our shows, and a million dollars. (OK, I’m lying about the million, but if I HAD a million to give you, don’t you know I would?)
