Morbid Curiosity
Last Guy and I NEVER watch TV. Even I find this kind of weird as I used to watch almost every night of the week. I’ve never seen a single episode of Survivor, American Idol, Desperate Housewives or that show where all those people got fired. Sometimes I feel really left out when I hear people going on about these shows, but I guess I’ll live not knowing what they’re talking about!
When we moved in together a couple of years ago, we plugged in the cable that was sticking out of the wall and discovered that we had all of the basic stations… FREE! Considering we almost never watch anyway, we decided to save the money and not bother getting the “real” cable service with all of the good stations. I’ll admit, I REALLY miss watching Comedy Central, and the Sci-Fi channel. But we DO get The Cooking Channel, NY1, all the Spanish Soap Operas, and Chinese News late at night. We also get the local Public Access stations, so I was able to see my own TV show in NY! Who needs any more?
Last week, my darling Last Guy was out of town all week. I guess because I was coming down with this stupid cold, I found myself splayed out on the sofa. This almost NEVER happens these days as I’m usually busy every day and into the wee hours of every night and I just don’t splay very well! And while I was doing nothing, I turned on the TV.
So it was kind of like a sociological experiment that I found myself watching EXTREME MAKEOVER. For those of you who have just tuned into my blog recently, I was actually nabbed on the street for an episode of AMBUSH MAKEOVER.

So I have to tell you that I was MORBIDLY FASCINATED as I watched these poor girls getting their faces changed… chins added to, boob jobs, eye jobs, tummy tucks and liposuctions… YIKES, I made off easy with a new hairdo and new clothes!
I also felt sorry for these girls that they are so unhappy with themselves that they felt they have to go through something this utterly painful and… well… EXTREME…to find their self worth! These girls actually had loving husbands who obviously loved them BEFORE the operations.
But, hey, WHATEVER DRIVES YOUR TRUCK! Or, like my mother always said… WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY, DEAR!
And what fascinated me even more was that I COULDN’T CHANGE THE CHANNEL! Once I started to watch, I COULDN’T STOP!!! It was even more fascinating than the Chinese Late News! It was like passing by a car accident.
But I can assure you that there have been MORE EXTREME MAKEOVERS. LIKE THIS ONE…
