Can We Get Personal?

Some of you have written to me privately to ask about the progress of my new CD. I'm taking my friend CW's advice and sharing with my new blog family! Here's the scoop...

Last week, my manager and I drove to Woodstock on Sunday to try to finish up mixing the tracks into their final versions. I lovingly refer to him as BRIT BOY. He's from Wales, so this drives him crazy... but that's my job!

First off, we got into my van with B.B. driving. I personally hate driving this monster. I always refer to it as The Love Boat... it's a big ASK-ME-ABOUT-MY GRANDCHILDREN high-top Chevy Van. AND IT'S GOTTEN REALLY OLD!

So we got a half hour out of the city, and the damn thing started fucking up. Well, because it was a holiday weekend, neither of us wanted to risk breaking down, so we turned around and went back into the city.

After spending the next hour or so on the phone, we realized that because of the 3-day weekend, there were no rental cars available, but we finally found the last rental car in NYC and headed off again towards Woodstock.

We started the session only 3 hours late, and then we were informed that there was a snowstorm on the horizon. No biggie. We were planning on staying at a hotel in Woodstock for the night anyway.

At 12:30 PM, I had to use the facility, which is in our producers' house, and realized that the snow was up to my knees. It looked like it was time to leave before we got stuck in the studio for the night.

On Monday, we were THREE SONGS AWAY from having the record mixed when the producer got a call that his mother was in the hospital and it looked serious.

So we left! Without any of the mixes that we had just completed... nada... nothing! It is SOOOO frustrating to be this close and still be in limbo another couple of weeks longer.

We started the record in September. The project had to be pushed back a month as our producer broke his arm in August... Then he broke it AGAIN! He's also playing almost all of the guitars on the record, so we really had to wait for him to heal. Time marches on!

BUT... THE MIXES ARE SOUNDING GREAT!!! (At least from what I can remember of them!) It's really sounding like a record, and I can't wait for you all to hear it. Soon I'll be able to post some snippets from the new recordings...
